Hi,

> can you trace scsi commands (for example by TraceSPTI) from optidrivecontrol

Sorry, i got no Windows machine.
I can do experiments with SCSI commands if you describe them to me.

> bd_errc_block command returns strange error 0/0x00/0x03 on BD media..

I got no SCSI errors when trying my hack that disguised BD-R as DVD+R.
About key 0 i read in SPC-3 table 27:
"NO SENSE: Indicates that there is no specific sense key information
to be reported. This may occur for a successful command or for a
command that receives CHECK CONDITION status because one
of the FILEMARK, EOM, or ILI bits is set to one."

About ASC=0, ASCQ=3 i read in table D.1
00h 03h T SETMARK DETECTED

6.3.7.14 associates "setmark" with tape devices.

Yes, this indeed strange.

Is the bd_errc_block command the same one ( F3 0E ...) that is
used with DVD+R by the liteon plugin ?

Where can i have a look at the code with the SCSI commands which
you are testing ?

Have a nice day

yes, now BD command exactly same as DVD one.
unfortunately we have no public description of quality check commands

can you change 8th CDB byte in this command from 0x10 to 0x20? I think it may be sector count, that was 16 for DVD (exactly 1 ECC block) and have to be 32 for BD...
I can ckeck it tomorrow everning only.
if you want to fully test current version, please e-mail me, I'll send you a tarball
you can find my address here: http://qpxtool.sourceforge.net/mail.html

I will try.

In my coarse experiment, the unchanged command yielded
an LBA progress of 32 rather than 16.
Strange observation was that the first returned LBA was
somewhere between 0 and 32. All others were aligned.

My hack only employed these two changes which did not
alter any SCSI command

I now e-mailed you for the tarball.

Hi,
I got the tarball and installed it to Debian 6 amd64.
-rwsr-xr-x 1 root staff 43360 Nov 27 12:38 /usr/local/bin/qscan
No Qt. I operate the machine headless via ssh from my workstation
(where my employer would throw a fit if i ran qpxtool as superuser).

First observation:
$ qscan -l
qScan 0.7 (C) 2007-2009 Gennady "ShultZ" Kozlov

D: [02] '/dev/sr0': 'TSSTcorp' 'CDDVDW SH-S223B ' 'SB02'
** Scan compleete: 3 device(s) found
The double "ee" in "compleete" is a typo (unless it's an insider joke).

I assume SCSI errors would get visible by Andy Polyakov's
little growisofs frowneys ":[".
None to see.

It obviously reports DVD speeds (1x = 1385000 byte/s) and not
BD speeds (1x = 4495625 byte/s),

No end spikes to see (unlike than with my hack).
Do you know why they appeared when the medium was handled as
DVD+R ?

> can you change 8th CDB byte in this command from 0x10 to 0x20?

I already see in plugins/liteon/qscan_cmd.cpp
int scan_liteon::cmd_bd_errc_block(bd_errc *data)
...
dev->cmd[8] = 0x20;

So i now try:

Not much difference to see except the first LBA is now 87 rather
than 23. All further steps are aligned to 32 again.

The network traffic monitor serves as speed indicator. The transfer
rate of messages slowly but steadily increased during the scan.

The results of both runs do match. Byte 8 seems not to be decisive.
Going back to 0x20 for now.

Any further test wishes ?

hmmm... your media detected as DVD, but should be BD. New version has separate code to handle Blu-Ray.
what 'qscan -d /dev/sr2 -M' says ?

#23 RE: Support for scanning bluray media on Liteon iHBS112 2 drive von scdbackup 27.11.2012 14:55

Hi,

it seems i had an old
/usr/lib/libqpxtransport.so.0.7.0
installed which does not get overwritten by make install of
trunk.r272.
Obviously my BD-R to DVD+R hack was still in effect.

I now deleted the library. Still got no new one installed.

If i go to my old hacked qpxtool-0.7.1_002 directory, then
make install installs the library.

I could now work with an unhacked libqpxtransport.so of
the old version.
But i think it is better if i install the one from trunk.r272

Can you tell me how ?
Is qpxtool-0.7.1_002's libqpxtransport.so usable for our tests ?

#24 RE: Support for scanning bluray media on Liteon iHBS112 2 drive von scdbackup 27.11.2012 15:02

Hi,

the problem is that the old traball installed the library
to /usr/lib, whereas trunk.r272 installs to /usr/local/lib64.
The latter one is not linked by Debian 6 (even if the former is
not present).

I copied /usr/local/lib64/libqpxtransport.so.0.7.0 to /usr/lib.

Now i get to see my debug messages and

IM: Media type : BD-R (Sequential)

and other info that matches the output of xorriso -toc.

Will re-do the tests now.

in my above cp command. Somehow the wiki software
converts my plain library path into these tags. Shrug.
